Instructor
Noor Al-Hassan
A specialist in mid-century Middle Eastern modernism, Dr. Noor Al-Hassan has dedicated her career to documenting the evolution of the Baghdad Modern Art Group. Her research focuses on the "Pioneers" (Al-Ruwwad) and the critical intersection where ancient Mesopotamian motifs meet European abstraction.
With a background in both Fine Arts and Archaeology, she brings a unique perspective to the canvas, teaching students not just how to look at Iraqi art, but how to read the history layered within the brushstrokes. She is currently working on a retrospective publication regarding the works of Shakir Hassan Al Said.
